| AY is well established in Hamilton , having existed since 1960 and has been funded by the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care since 1988. AY was incorporated as a registered charitable organization on September 19, 1969 under the legal name of "Alienated Youth of Canada". Since September 1979, the corporation has operated under the name of "Alternatives for Youth" and is most commonly known as "AY". The Agency is managed and supervised by a Board of Directors, composed of interested volunteers from the community.
